The number of UK citizens who own real estate in Turkey rose to 17,443 at the end of December 2006, from 2,964 in mid July 2003 – an increase of 488%.
The number of properties owned by UK citizens in Turkey rose to 12,739 from 2,420 during the same period – an increase of 426%. In total foreign nationals spent US$2.9 billion on buying property in Turkey in 2006. Briton’s share of this is expected to be over half a billion US
These figures have been released by the Turkish embassy in London. Reports currently estimate that the number of foreigners who have bought Altinkum property stands at over 10,000.
