- The local council is making considerable investments in the infrastructure of the town and resort – from the supply of utilities, to new road layouts, substantial tree planting schemes, and new road signs throughout.
- The rhythm and pace of life has been extended onto the winter months. Winter in Altinkum is much like a British spring – warm and sunny one day, cold and wet the next. But it is comparatively short lived, and the reliability of continuous sunshine normally sets in during April, and continues through to November. This has tempted many people to up sticks and move out to the area full time.
- Businesses are moving to the area in droves. The property market is flourishing, and the knock-on effect on the local community is having positive ramifications on the local economy.
- Didim and Altinkum as an area have been selected as a ‘cultural and tourism protection and development region’ – in other words it has been chosen as a site for major development by the Turkish government. The area is being promoted to the worldwide travel market through increased activities in advertising and exhibitions. As well as the construction of properties for sale, there is also a significant amount of construction specifically for the tourism market.
